2025 / 2026 FGDA Dress Code

FGDA is committed to inclusivity – We are dedicated to the art of dance and appreciate all our students following the below dress codes. 

Please make sure there are no exposed midriffs for any class.

If dancers choose to wear undergarments with their dance attire, they must be skin tone or match their leotard color. 

Jewelry should not be worn during classes, stud earrings that don’t hang and watches are ok.  No bracelets, necklaces, rings or hanging earrings.

*Option 1 is traditionally female, and Option 2 is traditionally male, both options are entirely appropriate and available to individuals of any gender*

Creative Movement:  Option 1 - Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes without ties, any SOLID color leotard, hair in a bun or ponytail.  Option 2 - White T-shirt or FGDA T-shirt, solid Black fitted pants or shorts, Black ballet shoes without ties.

Pre-Ballet, Ballet: Hair must be pulled back into a bun.  Option 1 - Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes without ties, Black leotard, Black ballet skirt (optional).  Option 2 - White T-shirt or FGDA T-shirt, Black fitted pants or solid Black shorts, Black ballet shoes without ties.

Ballet dancers may wear fitted dance shorts over their leotard, no gym/loose shorts.  They may also wear warm-up pants (no pajama pants) and sweaters during barre at the teacher’s discretion and must be removed after warmups.

Wearing your hair in a bun is an important part of ballet etiquette and discipline.

Pre-Tap:  Option 1 - FGDA T-shirt, Black leggings, *Black tap shoes, hair in a ponytail.  Option 2 - FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Black tap shoes.

Tap:  Option 1 - FGDA T-shirt, Black leggings, *Black tap shoes, hair in a ponytail.  Option 2 - FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Black tap shoes.

*Please refrain from purchasing low-quality or inexpensive tap shoes (such as from Target or Walmart), as they can cause damage to our studio floors. *The taps must say Bloch, Capezio or Revolution from our Nimbly store.  Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a safe environment.

Irish: Option 1 - FGDA Irish T-shirt, Black leggings, Black soft shoes, and/or hard shoes, hair in a ponytail.  Option 2 - FGDA Irish T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Black soft shoes and/or hard shoes.           Irish Shoes

Hip Hop Jazz 1-3: Option 1 - FGDA T-shirt, and/or Black leotard, Black leggings, Black jazz shoes, hair in a ponytail.  Option 2 - FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Black jazz shoes.

Lyrical Contemporary 1-3: Option 1 - FGDA T-shirt, and/or Black leotard, Black leggings, Tan jazz shoes, hair in a ponytail.  Option 2 - FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Tan jazz shoes.

Acrobatics:  Option 1 - Black leotard with Black leggings. Option 2 -  Black unitard or Black Singlet, can wear an FGDA T-shirt over, bare feet, hair in a ponytail (Need to wear a Black leotard or singlet under shirt for spotting).

Musical Theater:  Option 1 - FGDA T-shirt, Black leggings, Black Jazz shoes, hair in a ponytail. Option 2 - FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Black jazz shoes.

Intro & Advanced Lyrical Jazz & Intro to Advanced Contemporary: Option 1 - Black leggings, or Suntan tights with Black shorts, Solid Color leotard with or without FGDA T-shirt, Tan jazz shoes, hair in a ponytail.  Option 2 -  FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Tan jazz shoes.

Advanced Contemporary:  Option 1 - Black leggings, or Suntan tights with Black shorts, Solid Color leotard with or without FGDA T-shirt, Apolla Black compression crew socks. Option 2 - FGDA T-shirt, Black athletic pants or shorts, Apolla Black compression crew socks. Click here to purchase

Intro & Advanced Hip Hop: Black leggings or sweatpants with a Solid Color Leotard or T-shirt, Black sneakers that have not been worn on the street.

Adult Classes: Comfortable workout wear and appropriate shoes for the class.
